When it comes to Wednesday night's contest between the young guns of the Los Angeles Lakers and the star-studded Oklahoma City Thunder, there is plenty to watch for with these two teams. Unfortunately, Lakers rising star point guard Lonzo Ball will not play due to a nagging shoulder issue, but Thunder star forward Paul George still gave the rookie plenty of praise.
In a video on Twitter posted to Lonzo Wire, George said he really likes what he's seen so far of the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
“I've got a great impression on him. I think people are kind of down on him because he doesn't wow you statistically. He can, every so often, but that's not the caliber player he is. Especially right now,” George said of Ball. “His ability to just make plays without it leading to an assist for him, but just to get the offense going. He's just all around a great basketball player.”
According to a tweet from Shahan Ahmed of NBC Los Angeles, George described Ball as a rookie that is already showing the poise of a seasoned veteran.

“As far as being a basketball player, at his age, he's one of the best basketball players that has played this game,” George said of Ball. “He just has a knack to play the game the right way.”
In 31 starts this year for the Lakers, Ball is currently averaging 10.0 points on 34.9 percent shooting from the field, 7.1 assists, 6.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocked shots per game in just about 33.9 minutes of action per contest.
Maybe George and Ball will be teammates sooner than later? Time will have to tell, but Laker fans will have to keep their hopes up on that notion.
