Kawhi Leonard's Los Angeles Clippers were just eliminated from the Western Conference Finals by the Phoenix Suns, with Leonard unfortunately missing the entire series due to a knee injury. The focus now shifts to what Leonard and the Clippers will do this offseason.

Leonard has a $36 million player option for 2021-22. There's some gossip and speculation that he could opt out and leave, but the assumption is he's going to be back. If that indeed is the case, how will the Clippers look to upgrade the roster? Will they try to shift some pieces around Leonard and Paul George? Will they try to make a splashy move for another star?

On the star note, The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor notes that disgruntled Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard was on Kawhi Leonard's list of stars he wanted to team up with in 2019. Could LA try to get in position for a Lillard trade if he asks out?

The Clippers could try to do that, but the issue, as O'Connor notes, is what they have to offer. They could offer up George, even after his heroic postseason, but they don't have much else of value to include since they traded so much to get him. If the Blazers don't want George in the first place because they'd rather fully rebuild after a Lillard trade, it's just about impossible to see how LA would be able to put together a suitable offer.

Still, as unlikely as it seems that Dame is traded to the Clippers (or the Los Angeles Lakers for that matter), we should never totally count out something in the NBA. Crazy stuff happens all the team in this league, even if we may think it's something impossible.

We'll see what Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers have up their sleeves.
