The utter dominance of the Anthony Davis and LeBron James dynamic duo for the Los Angeles Lakers was on full display on Friday, as they led L.A. to another lopsided victory against the Miami Heat in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Naturally, the comparisons between them and the previous glorious pairing of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal for the Purple & Gold have been brought into light.
In his post-game interview, Davis provided his thoughts on the Kobe-Shaq comparisons (h/t NBA TV):
“Those two guys were selfless. They both had a competitive spirit,” Davis said. “And I think me and ‘Bron are the same way. We're two guys who wanna win no matter the circumstance. We both want to make sure that we do whatever it takes to help our team to win.”
And they did exactly that on Friday night. Davis and LeBron combined for 65 out of their team's 124 points, as the Heat simply had no answer for either player.

“He’s Kobe because he handles the ball and I’m Shaq because I play in the post,” he said.
We can't argue with that.
The Kobe and Shaq era in L.A. produced three championships during the early 2000's. Right now, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are just two wins away from bagging away their first. Let's not get carried away, though. The 2020 iteration of the Lakers' dynamic duo will need to win one title first before we start talking about a potential three-peat repeat.
