Longtime Detroit Pistons and former Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond was not on the free agent market for very long. After being bought out by the Cavs, who originally acquired the veteran big man via trade midway through the 2019-20 campaign, the 27-year-old Drummond elected to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Although Drummond has yet to suit up for the Lakers, the Los Angeles newcomer is now living out one of his basketball dreams: to play with LeBron James.

Luckily for Drummond, his recent decision to join the heralded Western Conference franchise has now led to being teammates with King James. Unfortunately for Drummond, though, James is currently sidelined due to a lingering ankle injury, so the new Lakers big man will have to wait to formally team up with the future Hall of Famer.

After splitting the 2019-20 campaign between Detroit and Cleveland, Drummond will now split the 2020-21 season between the Cavs and Lakers. Prior to the 2019-20 season, the longtime NBA big man spent his entire professional playing career in the “Motor City” as a member of the Pistons. He was originally selected with the No. 9 overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft out of UConn.

Starting all 25 of his regular season appearances for the Cavs in 2020-21, Drummond averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks across 28.9 minutes per outing. With both James and another Lakers big man in Anthony Davis presently on the shelf due to injury, Drummond will need to find his stride in Los Angeles sooner rather than later.
