The Los Angeles Lakers notched another victory on Sunday, holding off the Dallas Mavericks, 108-95. Following the win, Lakers big man Anthony Davis had nothing but good things to say about his team's performance, noting that their defense has been a crucial aspect of their early-season success.
There had been some slippage of late, but AD noted Sunday they looked more like themselves:
Davis was his usually dominant self against the Mavs, accounting for a game-high 23 points (on 8-of-12 from the field, 7-of-9 from the stripe), nine rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block in 36 minutes of play. He picked up the scoring slack for superstar teammate LeBron James, who went just 3-of-10 from the field en route to a 13-point, 13-assist double-double. James did make history by becoming the first player in NBA history to record at least 30,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, and 9,000 assists.
That's now two straight wins for the Lakers following a four-game losing streak, including a Christmas Day loss at the hands of their crosstown rival, the Los Angeles Clippers. It is also worth noting that Sunday's win came on a second night of a back-to-back set following a tough test against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.
