The Achilles injury that has kept Lakers star Anthony Davis out over the past two games appears to be more serious than initially expected. A new report has now emerged that AD is currently in danger of missing his third straight matchup on Friday due to this lingering issue.

Davis could be forced to sit out Friday's tilt against the Memphis Grizzlies, per Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen and Roll:

It is worth noting that Davis was also hoping to take the court for the Lakers on Wednesday, as LA took down the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 114-113 overtime win.

However, their prized big man was unable to suit up for the defending champs in that one, and as it appears, he is now in line to spend more time on the shelf. Should Davis be out of action again on Friday, then LeBron James will need to do the heavy lifting again for the squad.

Davis' current injury does not appear to be serious. He's being listed as day-to-day right now, which likely means that the Lakers are just being very cautious with their superstar.

Davis has missed a handful of games for the Purple & Gold this term, but this latest injury seems to be the most significant one he's had to deal with all season long.

When he's healthy, Davis has been an absolute force for the Lakers. The 27-year-old is currently averaging 22.3 points (on 53.0 percent shooting), to go along with 8.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.9 blocks in 33.6 minutes per game.
