It’s not every day you wake up to find a card that has your face on it suddenly being worth more than a million dollars. Then again, not everyone is Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance, Davis said that it’s very humbling and a great honor to have one of his cards sell for that much. The 27-year-old forward also added that it’s a testament to all the hard work and dedication he has poured into the craft.

The card Davis was speaking about is a BGS 9 2012-13 Panini National Treasures Logoman Rookie Autographed One of One card, which was auctioned off by Goldin Auctions early last month. During that auction, the card itself reached a whopping $1.045 million price tag, making it the most expensive Anthony Davis card out in the market.

In the same interview, Davis jokingly said that he’d have to tell his parents about his card and how much it’s worth right now. The Lakers star also entertained the idea of entering the hobby. It remains to be seen if he is more interested in collecting cards or leaning towards the business side of the card industry.

As of the moment, the nine-year veteran is busy building his brand off the court by partnering with companies like PepsiCo and Anheuser-Busch’s Michelob Ultra. The partnership with the former yielded a Ruffles bearing Davis’ signature Lime and Jalapeño flavor. Davis is also ranked 44th by Forbes in a list of The World’s Highest-Paid Athletes with a value of $30.4 million.

All of these ventures, and a looming playoff run with the Lakers, should push Anthony Davis further into the spotlight and a successful career after his playing days. For sure, the Brow’s value in the card market won’t remain stagnant and can even rise to new heights in the coming years.
