Anthony Davis used to get really upset when the Los Angeles Lakers would lose a game before the season was suspended in March. That's when LeBron James would step in as the leader of the team and give everyone advice.
“You know, I used to be so upset and so, like, down, when we lose a game,” Davis says. “And he'd be like, ‘I done lost in-season series to several teams. But when the playoffs comes, it's different.' … For a guy who's done it year after year after year after year, eight times in a row [in the NBA Finals] … if he's not worrying, then I'm like, ‘All right, we're fine.'
“But once he starts getting a little upset, it's like, ‘All right, we know it's something that we need to fix.'”
Davis has only been past the first round of the playoffs once in his career. LeBron, meanwhile, has played in nine NBA Finals and won three titles, so he's able to keep regular-season losses in perspective since he knows one loss isn't the end of the world.
Once the 2020 playoffs start, the Lakers will be one of the favorites to win the title with James and Davis leading the way. Davis is averaging 26.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists on the season, while LeBron is putting up 25.7 points, 7.9 boards and 10.6 assists.
