Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is a firm believer that teammate LeBron James should win his fifth MVP award this season. But, that's if politics don't get in the way, per Harrison Faigen.

As of right now, there are several players throughout the association who are also in contention for the prestigious award. Joel Embiid is having a monster year in Philly, while Luka Doncic is also living up to the MVP hype with the Mavs. Nikola Jokic meanwhile, is making some noise in Denver.
As for James, he's leading the Lakers in numerous offensive categories including points and assists. In ESPN's latest rankings, the King is the current favorite to capture the award after finishing behind Giannis Antetokounmpo in last year's voting.

The Lakers star has the defending champions donning a 20-6 record currently, which is second-best in the NBA to only the Utah Jazz. The 36-year old has looked extremely consistent this season, playing in all 25 games and shooting a career-best 40 percent from downtown. He's also been LA's best playmaker, dishing out 7.9 assists per night.
Although Anthony Davis hasn't put up the same type of numbers as 2019/20, he's still been a key part of LA's success to this point. If AD had his say, LeBron would be MVP.
That will become a reality if James can take the Lakers deep into the playoffs as they eye a second-consecutive Larry O'Brien Trophy.
