The fallout of Kobe Bryant's tragic accident and death have left more than several errors, with media outlets reporting inaccurate information. The retired Los Angeles Lakers star perished alongside his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others on board a helicopter in Calabasas, California.
However, British news institution BBC mistakenly memorialized current Lakers star LeBron James in an effort to discuss Bryant's career.
The BBC showed a package of James' highlights from Saturday's historic game against the Philadelphia 76ers, wherein the three-time champion passed Bryant on the NBA's list of all-time scorers for third place.
In a video shared by BuzzFeed News editor Matthew Champion on Twitter, you can see the BBC include Bryant and his deceased daughter at the beginning of the montage but quickly followed by James' highlights against the Sixers.

The voiceover narration of the montage also includes calling Bryant's 20-year NBA career “cut short” by injuries — a total fabrication. Despite multiple injuries throughout his career — especially characterizing the waning seasons with the Lakers like his Achilles tear — Bryant was an 18-time All-Star in his two-decade-long career.

The BBC apparently apologized on-air later in the broadcast, per Champion. A representative of the British outlet, Paul Royall also tweeted an apology on Monday.
In tonight’s coverage of the death of Kobe Bryant on #BBCNewsTen we mistakenly used pictures of LeBron James in one section of the report. We apologise for this human error which fell below our usual standards on the programme.

LeBron James, who used to idolize Kobe Bryant before coming into the league and becoming his on-court rival and friend, was seen emotional on the tarmac on the Los Angeles Airport as the Lakers arrived on Sunday afternoon hearing the tragic news.
The NBA has also suspended and postponed the Lakers' game on Tuesday, which was set to be a clash with rival Clippers at the Staples Center.
