The Los Angeles Lakers got more unsettling injury news on Saturday regarding the health of rising star forward Brandon Ingram. According to an article written today by Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, Ingram is scheduled to have an MRI on a strained left hip flexor he suffered Thursday night during the Lakers' 131-113 beatdown of the Miami Heat.

The MRI will be scheduled for Sunday in Los Angeles, so Ingram will not be active for tonight's road game against the San Antonio Spurs. Lakers head coach Luke Walton said he is unsure of when Ingram will be able to return but wants to play it safe with the 20-year-old's hip injury.

“There's still pain in that area. He got up this morning and did some stuff and still had too much pain, so he didn't participate in shootaround,” coach Walton said of Ingram on Saturday. “I am not sure how long he will be out. We will kind of see how he feels and then tomorrow and the next day and hopefully get him back sooner rather than later but we will take our time with it.”

This is some incredibly bad timing for the Lakers to be hit by the injury bug as the team is playing some of its best basketball of the season. Los Angeles was already dealt a major blow earlier this week when rookie guard Josh Hart broke his hand during practice.

It was later announced that Hart would elect to have surgery on his hand and could potentially miss the remainder of the season, so expect to see a lot more production out of guards Lonzo Ball and Isaiah Thomas with both Ingram and Hart out indefinitely. The Lakers (27-34) have won four straight and are going up against an injury-ravaged Spurs team tonight at AT&T Center, who are without star forwards Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge.
