Upon a rousing start to the 2019-20 season, the Los Angeles Lakers had a resolution to not lose two games in a row during this campaign. Twenty-nine games in, that resolution was put to bed after losing to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday and now to the Milwaukee Bucks 111-104 in a blockbuster pre-Christmas matchup.

Yet forward Danny Green doesn't believe in giving up on that goal just because the Lakers failed to achieve it this early in the season:

“Just because it happened this one time doesn't mean that we can't keep it going the rest of the season,” said Green, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. “Obviously facing two tough teams, but it doesn't mean that we can just forget about it and think that it's OK to continue to lose two in a row.

“From here on out, we want to continue to get back in the winning column, get a win streak and not lose two in a row ever again. And hopefully we're playing our best basketball going into April, May and June.”

The Lakers seemed to have an indestructible belief and a sense of invincibility after starting the season 24-3, but these two losses are a dose of a reality check, making Green and company aware there's still work to be done if they are to fine-tune this well-oiled machine into a juggernaut for their awaiting playoff run.

The Lakers are still 3.5 games ahead of their noisy neighbor Los Angeles Clippers for first place in the West, but that distance could narrow over time if they don't keep the focus necessary to excel in a ruthless 82-game season.
