The Los Angeles Lakers will be receiving the team's championship rings from a season ago on Tuesday evening. The heralded Western Conference franchise will host the crosstown rival Los Angeles Clippers. Not only that, though, but it appears as though veteran NBA point guard Dennis Schroder, a Lakers newcomer who was not part of the team's championship run down in Orlando, will indeed get the start for Los Angeles on Tuesday evening at Staples Center.

According to a Tuesday evening report from Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Schroder will begin his Lakers tenure with a start against the Clippers after notably coming up just shy of winning the league's Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2019-20.

The Lakers originally acquired Schroder earlier in the year via trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder as the team's point guard from a season ago, current Atlanta Hawks signal caller Rajon Rondo, became a free agent. With superstar forward LeBron James running the team's offense at times, it appeared as though Schroder was brought in by Los Angeles in order to lessen the workload for “King James” as the Lakers look to repeat in 2020-21.

However, things recently got interesting as Schroder did not mince his words en route to voicing his opinion about coming off the bench for the Lakers. With the veteran NBA point guard already serving as a formidable player off the bench, it was clear that the Lakers newcomer wanted to up the ante and become a starter for his latest franchise.
