Dennis Schroder had an anti-climatic end to his first stint with the Los Angeles Lakers. While he played solidly for most of the season, carving out a specific role as the team's third scoring option, he didn't find the same success in the NBA Playoffs against the Phoenix Suns.

His poor play was heavily criticized, including by Lakers great Magic Johnson. Some fans have also called out Schroder for his repeated rejections of a contract extension.

But while Schroder is facing a period of uncertainty, it's clear that the feisty playmaker is grateful to the Lakers organization, especially with how his family was treated (via Lakers Nation).

“Me and (Lakers vice president of basketball operations) Rob (Pelinka) have had close contact throughout the whole season. He said every time when you need something, text me. If the family needs something, just holler at me and I’ll figure it out. Going through all of this COVID stuff, family can’t come to the games but I mean, he did everything for us and that’s all you can ask for.”

Joining a storied squad, coming off the heels of an NBA title at that, is never easy. But Schroder said his transition was made smoother because of Pelinka. Perhaps most importantly, he also implied that he wants to stay with the Purple & Gold.

“He (Pelinka) did everything for me, stayed in contact all the time when I needed something. Even in practices helping me out talking to me, what I can improve on, all that stuff. It was just a great experience for me to be here and you all know what comes next. I said it last night, and it’s unfinished business.”

Clearly, Dennis Schroder is eager to redeem himself.
