Los Angeles Lakers big man Dwight Howard confirmed that he'll join the Purple and Gold in the NBA restart in Orlando. Apart from gunning for the title, however, Howard is also planning to use the league's return to get things rolling for his “plan of action.”
In a statement to The Athletic and Stadium, Howard revealed that he has been working on a special project since the hiatus. Using his game checks in the bubble games, the Lakers center will organize various activities aimed to “enrich the youth” and “ignite a breath of fresh air into the community.”

Dwight Howard has been one of the most outspoken NBA players amid the racial tensions hounding the US. Apart from sharing his thoughts on social media, the Lakers vet was also spotted in Atlanta, Georgia during the hearing of an Atlanta police officer who shot Rayshard Brooks — an unarmed black man.

Howard didn't speak to the media, but he was donning a shirt with the phrase “Breathe Again” written on it.
Though Howard initially called the resumption of the 2019-20 season a “distraction,” he recanted his statements not long after. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year made it clear that he's in favor of the season restart, but he noted the importance of raising awareness and attaining transparency.

The NBA seems to have considered Howard's sentiments. The league has allowed players to inscribe certain words and phrases on their jerseys. So apart from enjoying games, fans will be reminded of the current situation that the US is in.
