On Tuesday, ESPN's SportsCenter committed a pretty huge blunder involving the hot topic of New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis and his links with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The famed sports program aired a screenshot of an alleged comment made by LeBron James on Davis' Instagram post which actually turned out to be fake. A Twitter user that goes by the handle @sreekyshooter claims to have been the brains behind the fake post, and he was more than willing to take full credit for his highly successful trolling.

Davis' impending trade is unquestionably the hottest subject in the basketball world right now, and the Lakers have been identified as one of the heavy favorites to land the highly-coveted star. Davis recently hired Rich Paul as his sports agent, and the fact that this is the same man who happens to be LeBron's agent (and close friend) seems to add further fuel to this flame.
There is not doubt that James would jump at the opportunity to be teammates with Davis, but he's smart enough not to come out with such a blatant recruitment effort — on Twitter, no less. LeBron has had problems with tampering in the past (and this involved Davis as well) so surely, he must have learned his lesson.
Too bad for SportsCenter that their researcher was not doing his job very well, which resulted in a highly-publicized and very embarrassing debacle on their end. Davis may still end up as a Laker within the next few days, so SportsCenter will need to make sure that their game is on point as they take part in the coverage of this hot story.
