The Los Angeles Lakers took a huge L in their opening night contest against the Golden State Warriors.
For some fans, they might call it cosmic karma after one of the more egregious calls that almost went the Lakers' way.
During a pivotal moment in the fourth quarter, LeBron James drove to the basket and clearly lost the ball on his own. But with King James staring down at the baseline referee, the call was bafflingly called out on Golden State.

Twitter went rabid to call out the refs for such a blatant mistake in favor of the Lakers star.
I swear refs are afraid to call the ball out on LeBron if he’s standing right next to them

Some fans were even calling the referees blind as they seemingly turned a the other way from faulting LeBron James as the culprit who last touched it out of bounds.

One possible scenario is that the referee called it Lakers ball to make up for swallowing his whistle on a potential foul call. Referees on occasion grant make-up calls, whether they admit it or not. The Warriors did end up getting the ball back as Steve Kerr challenged the ruling and got the call overturned.
But refereeing aside, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers evidently have a lot to work on as they dropped their first game of the season.
