Before the season started, Los Angeles Lakers superstar power forward Anthony Davis said he wanted to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Davis' coach, Frank Vogel, is confident the Chicago native will accomplish that goal.
Frank Vogel on Anthony Davis’ defense: “I think he can and will win Defensive Player of the Year this season”

The Lakers have the fourth-best defense in the NBA right now. They are giving up only 104.0 points per game.

Davis is averaging 2.8 blocks per game, which is good for a first place tie with Orlando Magic big man Jonathan Isaac. He leads the league in total blocks entering Tuesday's matchup against the Denver Nuggets.
AD is one of those rare players who could win the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Award. That's how talented the Lakers big man is. Davis can score from all areas of the court and is a stud on defense.
Davis is averaging 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Lakers. He's shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc and 87.2 percent from the free-throw line.
With Davis and LeBron James leading the charge, the Lakers are in prime position to win the title this season. No one wants to see AD and LeBron in a seven-game series once the playoffs start. Davis promised to hold LeBron accountable on defense this season and, so far, The King has been engaged and active on that end of the floor.
