The Los Angeles Lakers were absolutely pummeled by the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night in what turned out to be a truly disappointing performance by LA. The game eventually ended with a final score of 105-90, which actually wasn't a proper reflection of how poorly the Lakers played throughout the contest.
LA head coach Frank Vogel was understandably upset after the game and he did not hold back with his criticism. Vogel pretty much called out his team for not putting in enough effort in the loss:
“When we’re on the court, we just got to play harder. Every possession has to matter. We just got to play harder, that’s it,” Vogel said, via Damian Burchardt of Lakers Nation.

This seems like a straightforward solution for the Lakers in terms of trying to solve their on-court issues, but as we all know, this is much easier said than done. At this point, LA is anything but the title favorites some considered them to be before the start of the season. For his part, coach Vogel completely agrees with this notion right now:
“If we’re gonna win, we have to stay humble,” Vogel continued. “We’re not the championship team we want to be right now, so in order to get there, we have to stay humble. It’s not a knock on who we are as players. It’s just as a team, if you want to win at any level, you got to stay humble.”
Frank Vogel clearly isn't too pleased about his team's level of humility. In his mind, the Lakers need to take a more modest approach if they want to achieve their goals this season.
