When Isaiah Thomas was a member of the rival Boston Celtics last postseason, the current Los Angeles Lakers star point guard played out of his mind during the seven-game series between the Celtics and the Washington Wizards. In a recent interview with Lakers sideline reporter Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet, Thomas answered questions from fans and eventually opened up about his relationship with Lakers retired legendary shooting guard Kobe Bryant.

Thomas revealed that Bryant had reached out to him last year shortly after his little sister, Chyna Thomas, died in a single-car accident in mid-April. Bryant and Thomas would watch film together on FaceTime, which especially helped Thomas during the series against the Wizards in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

“We’d be on FaceTime watching film together on speakerphone. He would tell me what he sees, what I can do and what I can do better to be able to get my team a win. That was throughout the whole playoffs,” Thomas said on Tuesday during the Lakers Voices segment on Tuesday. “That was special to me, because to be able to have Kobe Bryant talk to you and help you out is amazing, especially for me. That was my favorite player growing up.”

This was a series where Thomas' numbers were absolutely off the charts to the tune of 27.4 points, 7.1 assists, and 3.6-of-7.7 three-pointers made per game. This also included a massive 53-point performance in Boston's 129-119 Game 2 win over the Wizards.

“It was crazy, because I never even thought about basketball like that,” Thomas said. “And then when I started to think like that, I would see it before it happened in the game and I would think, ‘Damn, Kobe really just told me that last night.’”

A video of the full interview between Thomas and Trudell, which was uploaded to the team's website and the Lakers' Twitter account, can be viewed below in its entirety.

Thomas and the Lakers (28-35) are fresh off yet another close 108-103 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night, which ended Los Angeles' five-game winning streak. The Lakers will look to start a new winning streak tonight when they host the Orlando Magic (20-44) at Staples Center.
