Kevin Durant did not just like LeBron James’ decision to join the Los Angles Lakers. He loved it.
When asked what his thoughts are about the four-time MVP’s move to Hollywood and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors forward and two-time NBA champion waxed poetic in giving James’ partnership with the Lakers a seal of approval, per ESPN.

“He's kind of breaking down the barriers of what an NBA superstar is supposed to be. You feel like you're supposed to play it in one spot. I think he did a good job of giving you different chapters, and it will make his book even more interesting when its done.”
It’s not a surprise to hear Durant offer a warm opinion with regards to James setting up camp in Los Angeles. Durant himself did the same thing in 2016, when he left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Bay Area, though, there were some differences. Durant packed his bags for Golden State without the Thunder winning a title first. LeBron James promised Cleveland a title and delivered it two years ago. Kevin Durant also parted ways with the Thunder acrimoniously and was met with bottomless criticism and hate when he revealed he was going to Golden State.
If anything, Durant’s move to Golden State had more similarities with James’ ‘The Decision’ in 2010.
Also, with James now in the Western Conference, it means that he and Durant will not be able to extend their NBA Finals rivalry. At the very best, the two will cross paths in the Western Conference Finals, and even that does not seem to be a foregone conclusion.
