For the sixth straight season, the Lakers won't be in the playoffs. They are currently 11th in the Western Conference with a 35-43 record. They have already shut down superstar LeBron James and youngsters Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart in order for them to recover from their respective injuries.
The Lakers began the season with a ton of expectations after signing LeBron last summer, and it looked like they were going to live up to them, as they were the fourth-best team in the West back in December. But then injuries struck some of their key players, particularly James, who had to miss 17 straight games after suffering a strained groin in their Christmas Day game against the Warriors.

It was the start of the Lakers' downfall.
There is still no update on whether or not Los Angeles will also shut down Kuzma for the remainder of the season, but it would be best for the team to allow him to rest as well.
This season, Kuzma became the Lakers' second-best scorer with close to 19 points a game. He wasn't intimidated by James' arrival and seems focused on his individual improvement.
Kuzma's development will be crucial next season if he is still on the roster, as LA will look to end its postseason drought.
