The main reason Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis have meshed so well together in their first year as teammates is because both future Hall of Famers aren't afraid to hold each other accountable.

In the past, some of James' teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat were afraid to call out LeBron in practice given his stature in the NBA.

However, Davis—a fellow No. 1 overall pick—has never shied away from going at The King in practices with the Lakers.

According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, Lakers players were “taken aback” when Davis pointed out James' mistakes in practices for the first time in 2019-20, basically setting the tone for the team all season.

Anthony Davis played a role on multiple levels. Teammates were taken aback at first to hear Davis pointing out LeBron James' mistakes in practices, urging him to get it right next time.

“There were a couple of instances when they had a little back and forth,” Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said. “‘That's on you. Don't try to deflect. That's your rotation.' And LeBron would accept it.” Davis and James are friends, and share an agent — Rich Paul.

“They came with the expectation of holding each other accountable,” Lakers shooting guard Danny Green said.

James and Davis were arguably the NBA's best duo during the 2019-20 regular season. That has remained the case in the playoffs and Finals, thus far.

All signs point toward the Lakers winning the 2020 championship since they are up 2-0 with Heat stars Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo still hurt.
