Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka has revealed that Frank Vogel was hired because the coach reflected the core qualities that the organization wants.

Per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints, Rob Pelinka pointed out Vogel's track record as a head coach. To recall, Frank Vogel was the coach of the Indiana Pacers from 2010 to 2016. During his tenure, he led Paul George and the rest of the squad to multiple playoff appearances, including two consecutive Eastern Conference Finals against LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

Frank Vogel has a career win-loss record of 304-291 (.511) in 595 games with the Indiana Pacers (2010-16) and Orlando Magic (2016-18). His time with the Pacers stands out: He accumulated a 250-181 record and was a four-time NBA Eastern Conference Coach of the Month. He also led them to five playoff appearances. Rob Pelinka certainly considered the point that Vogel came within one win of the NBA Finals with the Pacers in 2013 and pushed the Miami Heat in multiple long series despite the Heat's abundance of “Big 3” talent with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.

The Frank Vogel Pacers played the LeBron-era Heat three consecutive years in the playoffs, from 2012 through 2014. In all three confrontations, the Pacers pushed the Heat to at least six games.

Vogel, 45, will be the 27th head coach in franchise history. Along with LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Vogel will have the colossal task of bringing the Lakers back to its winning ways. As one of the most historic organizations in all of sports, the goal every season is to win a championship.
