Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James expressed a great deal of confidence in his teammate, Anthony Davis, during Tuesday's NBA Finals media availability, noting that “the best is yet to come” for the former Kentucky Wildcat.

Davis has made it to the postseason before, but he's never advanced past the second round. The 27-year-old forward joined the Lakers prior to the start of this season, and now he finds himself in the Finals for the first time in his career.

“There’s a reason we wanted him here,” James told Yahoo Sports. “He’s a complete player, and now the world is seeing what he can do in games that matter. All he ever wanted was a chance. That’s all anybody ever wants. And now that he has it, I think you’re going to see him flourish and he has. We haven’t seen the best of AD yet. He’s just scratching the surface.”

As James noted in his comments, Davis has already proven his mettle with the Lakers. Although The King leads the team in rebounds and assists, it's The Brow who has led the charge in the postseason scoring department (28.8 points per game in these playoffs). Furthermore, Davis is currently leading the entire NBA in postseason win shares (3.3). And let's not forget about the game-winning shot he hit at the buzzer in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

Davis seems to be enjoying his role with the Lakers, who are back in the Finals for the first time in 10 years. In his 15 appearances during these playoffs, the former No. 1 overall pick has racked up averages of 28.8 points on 57.1 percent shooting from the field (36.6 percent from beyond the arc), 9.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.2 steals.

Davis won't have to wait much longer to get his first crack at playing in the NBA Finals, as Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday night.
