Early foul troubles haunted the Los Angeles Lakers all throughout Game 3 of the 2020 NBA Finals. Forward Anthony Davis failed to get his rhythm going as he was called for multiple fouls early in the first quarter which ultimately affected the team's pace on the offensive end.

Lakers teammate Lebron James commented on how the fouls affected Davis' meager performance in the 115-104 loss via Ohm Youngmisuk on Twitter:

The former Kentucky standout's limited productivity was uncharacteristic as he only took a total of nine shots on the field and finished with 15 points, less than half of his performances in the first two games when he scored 34 and 32, respectively.

James tallied a near-triple double with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists but also accounted for eight turnovers of his team's total 19. All five of the Lakers' starters ended with a negative point differential after the game with Davis and point guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope leading with an identical -26 tally.

The Heat was able to exploit the Lakers' inefficiencies with forward Jimmy Butler having a historic night after erupting for 40 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds. Rookie shooting guard Tyler Herro and veteran forward Kelly Olynyk also chipped in with 17 points apiece.

With a miserable Game 3 to forget, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel will need to make the necessary adjustments to halt the Heat's momentum heading into a crucial Game 4. The Purple and Gold will aim to bounce back and snag their third win of the series to inch closer to claiming their 17th title in franchise history.
