On the court, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers blew a massive lead in a critical game against the New Orleans Pelicans. But off the court, King James didn't let things get personal as he fulfilled a lifelong with for an opposing player's mother.
Pelicans rookie Trey Murphy III was able to secure a meet up with the Lakers star for his mother, who happens to be a huge LeBron James fan and was also celebrating her birthday.
Via Bill Oram:
For his mom’s birthday, Trey Murphy III introduced her to Lakers star LeBron James. She was practically in tears she was so happy. I said, “You understand your son just beat him,” and she said, “But that’s LEBRON!”

Kudos to LeBron James for not letting any of his frustrations, or his hurting ankle, get in the way of carving out time to do something nice for an NBA peer and his mom. The Lakers star was seen hobbling during the postgame presser but still powered on for the meet and greet.
King James played a game-high 42 minutes for the Lakers, piling on 39 points. But it wasn't enough to keep the Pelicans at bay. Trey Murphy III had himself a game as well, pouring in 21 points off the bench.
