LeBron James and Kobe Bryant: same dunk, nearly 19 years apart. James threw down a nasty reverse during the Los Angeles Lakers' Thursday loss to the Houston Rockets in an image eerily similar to one created by Bryant in November of 2001.

Despite the loss, James clearly cherished the spectacular image of the jam, which was captured by legendary Lakers photographer Andrew Bernstein. He posted the photo on Instagram with an accompanying caption about his love for the game:

LeBron also praised Bernstein for his spectacular timing in making the image such a viral sensation (via Bill Oram of The Athletic):

The Lakers star was blown away when he first saw the picture from 48 hours earlier.
“I was like, ‘Holy shit,’” he said. “That is an unbelievable photo. And then when I found how it was taken. … Andy literally had one snap on his remote to get that.”
The thing with the remote system is that Bernstein can’t just hold the trigger, fire off a burst of photos and choose from the best frame. It takes the flashbulbs in the ceiling four seconds to reset.
He got one chance and nailed it.
“He’s the real MVP for sure,” James said.

The picture–paired with the side-by-side video tweeted out by numerous outlets on Thursday–continues to elicit memories of Kobe for Lakers fans following his tragic passing two weeks ago.

Of course, LeBron can probably think of a more fitting tribute. The Lakers are the top team in the Western Conference, and James and co. will help to honor Bryant's memory with a title come June.
