LeBron James has officially broken his silence regarding the resignation of Magic Johnson as the Los Angeles Lakers' President of Basketball Operations last month.

The four-time MVP made his public reaction to Johnson's sudden exit from the Lakers in the most recent episode of his HBO show “The Shop,” and it was clear that he's not happy with what happened. (h/t Ben Golliver of Waashington Post)

“It was just weird for [Johnson] to just be like . . . ‘Nah, I’m out of here,’ And not even have [a heads-up] like: ‘Hey, Bron . . . kiss my a–. I’m out of here.’ I would have been okay with that. Like: ‘Hey, Bron, it’s Magic. Kiss my a–; I’m gone.’ It wasn’t even that.”

“We were like, ‘Damn, right now?’ It was literally 70 minutes on the clock before [tip-off]. [The team] is getting ready for a game. And you decide to do that right here, right now? I feel like there’s a time and place for things, and I believe that you knew you were going to make that decision. So why would you do it here? And why would you do it now?”

Johnson was instrumental in helping lure James to join the Lakers last summer. They both talked in LeBron's mansion as soon as free agency officially began last year, and that led to the three-time champion committing long-term with the Purple and Gold.

“I came here to be a part of the Lakers organization [after] having a conversation with Magic. [He was] really kind of breaking it down and saying how we were going to make this ‘Showtime’ again. I wanted to be a part of that process.”

However, the Lakers had a disappointing season and they missed the playoffs for the sixth straight year. Before the team's final game against the Portland Trail Blazers back in April, Johnson had an impromptu press conference and announced that he was stepping down from his post.

Randy Mims, LeBron's long-time friend and business partner, informed him of Magic's stunning decision. At first, James can't believe it, but as soon as everything sunk in, he relayed the news to Lonzo Ball and the rest of his teammates.

This confirms speculations that Johnson didn't consult LeBron or his representatives regarding his decision. Before “The Shop” aired last Saturday, the Lakers superstar has remained quiet about the issue, though reports mentioned that he was “stunned” by Magic's sudden resignation.

Despite everything that happened, LeBron remains committed to the franchise and he is hoping that team owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka will be able to make the right moves this summer to make the team better.
