LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are preparing for the start of the 2018-19 NBA season, and they are having a lot of fun doing so. It is the beginning of a new era in Los Angeles, and head coach Luke Walton knows how important it is to get this era off to a good start.
Coaching a team with James is much different than Walton is used to, but it sounds like the two are off to a quick start together.
According to an interview shared by Anthony Irwin of Silver Screen and Roll, James said his relationship with Walton is off to a “good start” early this season.

What would be your relationship with someone if you had a relationship with them for a week? You’d be like ‘ah, I’m still learning them.’ But it’s off to a good start, I will say.”
Tyronn Lue, who coached James with the Cleveland Cavaliers, was happy to give Walton some advice on how to coach James recently. Lue recently told Walton that coaching James is an easy job. Does that surprise anyone?
“I just told him about Bron, how easy he is. Bron’s easy, man. It’s not what it seems… If he has a problem or disagrees with you, he’s going to talk to you. He’s not going to make a big scene or blow up, occasionally you see him (upset) on the bench but… people blow it out of proportion, like it’s something crazy. … It’s just the surrounding sh*t that they try to make it hard.”
James and company have a few more weeks to get everything ironed out and ready for real competition. Los Angeles will open the regular season on the road on Oct. 18 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Walton and James appear to be getting along well, which should result in some good things for the Lakers.
