LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were highly-favored to win the title in the 2019-20 season. James himself is aware of this and wants the season to continue. In a recent interview though, LeBron emphasized that his main priority is the health and well-being of the NBA and the general public.

The Lakers star joined Mav Carter and Paul Rivera on Uninterrupted to discuss everything and anything basketball and the COVID-19 pandemic which has paralyzed cities and institutions all over the world.

James shared that “a lot” of players want to the season to resume and they are not ready to give up on the season just yet. At the same time, James believes that the COVID-19 pandemic is something that they “can't control.”

“Definitely not giving up on the season,” LeBron said on Monday, as transcribed by Ryan Young of Yahoo Sports. “Not only myself and my teammates, the Lakers organization, we want to play. There’s a lot of players that I know personally that want to play. And obviously, we don’t ever want to jeopardize the health of any of our players or any of the players’ families and so on and so on.

“This is a pandemic that we have no idea [about]. We can’t control it.”

The NBA has allowed teams to open their respective practice facilities, provided that it's already legal in their state. Reports also reveal that the NBA is looking to hold closed-door games in isolated areas such as Las Vegas or even Disney World in Orlando.

Apart from finding the right venue, the league is preparing for massive testing.

It remains to be seen what will happen to the 2019-20 campaign. However, one thing is clear: LeBron James, the Lakers and the majority of the NBA want the season back.
