Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James paid tribute to Kobe Bryant after the two met each other during Sunday night's game with the Atlanta Hawks at Staples Center.

LeBron took it to Instagram to show his respect to Kobe, posting a video of their moment during the game. On the caption, the so-called King wrote that he is “trying to continue the legacy” that Bryant left behind in the Purple and Gold.

Interestingly, LeBron ended the message by saying he wants to make Kobe proud.

After the Lakers dominated the Hawks to the tune of a 122-101 victory, LeBron did not shy away from talking about Kobe and how he was influenced by him. In fact, LBJ even compared himself to Bryant — as they are both high school standouts who took the challenge of becoming not only the best player in their generation but in the history of the league.

LeBron balled out in front of Kobe. He finished the game with 33 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists as the Lakers led from start to finish.

The 34-year-old James was clearly motivated throughout the game, and the presence of Kobe may have factored in on that.

James is trying to bring another championship to the Lakers and etch his name alongside Kobe as one of the Purple and Gold's all-time greats. He has a chance to do just that this season though, with the team boasting the best record in the NBA at 11-2.
