Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic recently made an appearance on the Mind the Game podcast. The complete episode will go live on Sunday, but Mind the Game released a segment from the podcast on Saturday, via X, formerly Twitter. In the video, Doncic discussed his passion for the game of basketball with NBA Hall of Famer Steve Nash.

“Well, for me I wasn't good at any other sports,” Doncic told Nash. “Except soccer, I was… not like you (Nash is a good soccer player)… Yeah I was playing a lot of sports. Tennis, soccer and basketball were the main ones. I played volleyball… For me, it was fun just to do sports. And then I went outside, you know? Like, after school, I went outside every time.”

Luka Doncic then confirmed that he “mostly” played basketball. However, he did indeed participate in multiple sports while growing up.

Nash then asked Doncic if his father, who played basketball, influenced his passion for the game.

“Yeah, for sure,” Luka responded. “Like, I went to his games… I started being ball boy. I was a lot of ball boy in EuroLeague games. I was ball boy for Olympia so that's how I used my time to just get on basketball. They'd let us get in before the game, halftime and after the game, I was just shooting.”

Doncic has seemingly been around basketball for most of his life. He loves the game. His passion has surely played a role in his emergence as one of the best players in the NBA.

The Lakers are currently focused on building a championship level team around Luka Doncic and LeBron James in LA. Luka has become one of the faces of Los Angeles sports. He is hoping to lead the Lakers to the NBA Finals within the next year or two.

It has been an incredible basketball journey for Doncic. He now plays for one of the most well known sports franchises in one of the most popular cities in the entire world. Regardless of the circumstances, though, Doncic's passion for the game — which was seemingly developed at a young age — likely won't change.
