The Los Angeles Lakers surprised the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday as they came out very prepared and looked confident that they can come out with the road win. Behind six players who scored in double figures for them, Magic Johnson's troops pulled off the upset and handed the Thunder their fourth consecutive loss, 108-104.

Johnson couldn’t hide how pleased he was with the Lakers’ performance and took to his Twitter account to let everyone know what he thinks of it. He then gave a lot of credit to head coach Luke Walton for preparing the players well en route to the morale-boosting victory.

Johnson’s tweet can also be considered a subtle statement for Paul George, who the Lakers have long been linked to. There is growing belief that the five-time All-Star will choose them in the summer and represent his hometown team. However, George could also sign a long-term deal with the Thunder if they can have a deep playoff run.

The battle to sign one of the marquee names next summer is already starting and Johnson may have wanted to send a strong message to George that their current roster has the potential to be great, and that his addition can instantly take them closer to becoming a contender.

There’s still a long way to go before the start of free agency, but the Lakers are clearly not going to wait until then to let the stars know what they can have if they decide to take their talents to Los Angeles.
