In recent light of NBA general managers being upset at the league's handling of LeBron James' comments in regards of potentially playing next to Anthony Davis, an NBA spokesman declared that each tampering case is evaluated on its own, finding no clear signs of the Los Angeles Lakers having any motive with his comments.

“Each case is assessed on its own facts,” said the spokesman, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. “In general, absent evidence of team coordination or other aggravating factors, it is not tampering when a player makes a comment about his interest in playing with another team’s player.”

In yeomen-speak, the league office hasn't found any evidence suggesting James vouched to play with Leonard due to a suggestion from the front office or ownership, but did so out of his own free will in efforts to answer a question from ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Players have been doing this for a while now, but it rings much louder now, given the implications that surround both the Lakers and Davis, who is soon-to-be a free agent at this season's end.

Lakers president Magic Johnson was notably fined for his comments about potentially acquiring Paul George during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but unlike rules regarding words coming from the front office personnel or team officials, the legislature surrounding player-to-player comments is very murky and unclear.

Rival GMs are upset with James coyly vying for a partnership with Anthony Davis, given that he has mastered how to properly evade these sanctions by speaking in a manner that is clear, yet in-punitive.

James has managed to send an onslaught of frenzied media around the New Orleans Pelicans star, which ranged from personal questions about his desire to play alongside James to teammates and front office personnel being forced to answer the same type of questions.

Davis signing with Klutch Sports adds another layer of speculation, given the agency is run by LeBron James' longtime friend and business partner Rich Paul — bringing yet another branch to connect the two superstar players.
