When Rajon Rondo signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, basketball fanatics were quick to wonder: will he take the starting point guard spot from Lonzo Ball? Or will he head to the bench? For the 32-year-old himself, it doesn't really matter. All he wants is another ring.

Many believe that a mini-competition will be held between Rondo — one of the league's elite point guards, and Ball — the Lakers' prized rising star. Rondo, speaking with Bill Oram of The Athletic, pointed out that there will be no such thing. He knows that he was recruited by the Lakers for one thing: to win a championship.

“They have plans, obviously, me being here. Along with other guys they’ve (brought) in, along with this great young core that we have. So, I’m not so much caught up in the starting and things like that. I’m just caught up in winning the championship.”

Speaking about Ball, Rondo said that he will try to help the 20-year-old as much as he can. He knows that Ball is under a lot of pressure to bring the purple and gold back to its winning ways. And Rondo is up for the role as a big brother to the big baller.

“I’m excited to get a player that age and try to help him as much as I can,” Rondo said of Ball. “As far as understanding the game and getting his game up to speed as far as at a high level. Especially with the amount of pressure now that the organization has on him.”
