Rajon Rondo of the Los Angeles Lakers won't suit up on Thursday when they face the Sacramento Kings.

Per Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times, Rondo is out with a Grade 3 sprain in his right ring finger.

The injury comes in after Rajon Rondo's stellar performance on Christmas day against the Golden State Warriors. With LeBron James out, Rondo held the fort down and controlled the Lakers' offense and defense.

In 23 minutes of play, the 32-year-old scored 15 points and 10 assists. He was 6-of-11 from the field and 1-of-3 from 3-point country. He was the floor leader in the absence of James amid an impending Warriors run. Apart from passing the ball around, Rondo made the most out of isolation plays, scoring at every opportunity by way of soft lay-ups.

Rajon Rondo, who's been playing backup point guard behind second-year man Lonzo Ball, is averaging 8.4 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. With his absence, we should expect Ball's minutes to spike.

This is the second time that Rondo will be sidelined due to an injury. Earlier, he missed 17 games due to a broken hand. Without him, the Lakers were 10-7.

The Lakers will be sorely lacking leadership against the Kings with Rondo out and, potentially, James as well.
