Los Angeles Lakers superstar and MVP candidate LeBron James injured his ankle on Saturday against the streaking Atlanta Hawks. James, who is now out indefinitely, was diagnosed with a high right ankle sprain.
The injury happened when James was fighting for the loose ball against former teammate Rajon Rondo and Solomon Hill.

As seen in the video above, Hill goes down and puts his weight on James’ ankle, which he sprained on the play. Lakers fans and James’ own teammates did not like the way Hill was fighting for the ball. People then took to social media, specifically on Hill’s Instagram comments and Twitter mentions to call out what they thought was a dirty play.
Hill, who has been in the league for eight years, claims he didn’t intend to hurt the four-time NBA champion. Despite the unpleasant play, Hill said that he would never disrespect the game like that.

would never disrespect the game and take a player out purposely… he knows that. that’s all that matters to me. praying for a speedy recovery. #riptothementionstho #moredmsthansaweetie

A few of James’ Lakers teammates, like reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell, told reporters after the game that he felt Hill did not make a basketball play when diving on the floor and going through James’ legs. Harrell added that the referees should have reviewed the play instead of calling it a common foul.
Montrezl Harrell said he didn't feel like Solomon Hill's dive at LeBron "was a basketball-type play. I really don’t feel like it was a loose ball…He had to go thru his legs to get the ball…I don’t feel like he tried to do it, but those are the things that you should look at."

As of writing, the severity of James’ injury remains unclear. But just to give an idea, a grade one ankle sprain could take two weeks while a grade three could be more than six weeks which might be towards the start of playoffs.
