LeBron James arrived in Los Angeles with hopes of lifting the Lakers back to prominence, as he did with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers. In a stacked Western Conference, the Lakers weren't expected to reign so quick, but their slow start isn't like anyone expected either.
As pointed out by FredSmootBoatParty on Reddit, Los Angeles' loss at the hands and wit of Mike Malone and the Denver Nuggets, dropped their record to 11-9 which is the worst start of any LeBron James-led team after the first 20 games since 2007 with the Cavs.
The Lakers have now lost two in a row after winning nine of the 11 games prior to this mini-skid.
Article Continues BelowTo recall, the Cavs' 2007-08 team was coming off an NBA Finals sweep courtesy of the San Antonio Spurs. LeBron James was still doing the heavy lifting back then with Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Drew Gooden, and Daniel Gibson already considered as the superstar forward's main support crew, which isn't much to say.
This season, though, Los Angeles' roster is rather equipped, making this start all the more intriguing. They have a good mix of youngsters and veterans. Their roster boasts of players who play with an edge. Furthermore, LeBron James is playing the fewest minutes of his career yet averaging the most points per game (28.3) since 2010.
History says that each time James joins a new team, a slow start followed. That holds true in Hollywood and all eyes will be on the Lakers if they, too, can turn it around as the Heat and Cavs did before them as the season matures.
