Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James just passed Michael Jordan in the All-Time scoring list during the team's game against the Denver Nuggets yesterday. People from all over the world took to social media to congratulate the four-time MVP for his accomplishment; from players, fans, and even some of the students from the I Promise School.

The All-Star forward later showed his appreciation for the kids via Twitter.

LeBron spearheaded the opening of the I Promise School in Cleveland, Ohio to allow less-fortunate kids to be able to attain a high-quality education. It officially opened last year.

The I Promise School is one of the James' biggest projects off the court. Growing up without a father, he used his childhood as a motivation for starting the school, as he did not want the kids from his neighborhood to experience what he went through.

Heading into the game against the Nuggets, James needed 13 points to pass Jordan for the fourth spot in the list.

He eventually passed MJ in the second quarter of that game with a layup.

LeBron finished with 31 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, but the Nuggets came out with a 115-99 win.

The Lakers are now 6.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs for the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference, and even though it is only a matter of time before the team is officially out of the playoffs, LeBron's achievement is one of the little things fans can celebrate in what has been a disappointing season.

At the moment, LeBron has 32,311 career points, and will need 1,332 points to pass Laker legend Kobe Bryant for the third spot in the All-Time scoring list.

The Black Mamba finished with a total of 33,643 in his 20 seasons in the NBA.
