The Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night let out a huge sigh of relief after it was revealed that they would keep their top-three protected first-round pick by landing the second overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft.
At the same time, this also provided LaVar Ball with even more confidence that his son, Lonzo Ball, will be donning a Lakers uniform next season. Despite the Boston Celtics possessing the first overall pick, LaVar told Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation on Tuesday night that Lonzo will only work out with Los Angeles prior to the draft.
“That’s all we working out for is the Lakers,” said LaVar. “Just the Lakers. There’s nobody else that we need to workout for.”
This shouldn't come as shocking news given that Ball Family has voiced its strong desire for Lonzo to wind up with the Lakers. This is something that LaVar has repeatedly stated over and over again in various interviews with the media.

It could create an intriguing situation if the Celtics have any significant interest in selecting him with the top pick in the draft. He is arguably the most talented prospect available that has the potential to become a franchise-caliber player.
On a similar note, LaVar went on to state in his interview with Lakers Nation that his son will end the team's four-year playoff drought next season if he indeed joins the team next month.
“Yes, it does,” Ball said on if the Lakers’ playoff drought comes to an end with Lonzo. “The Lakers make the playoffs as soon as my boy gets there.”
Clearly, LaVar doesn't lack any confidence in any regard when it comes to his son's NBA future. In his eyes, the sky is the limit for what he can accomplish in the league. With the Lakers in the second spot in the draft order, there is a strong possibility that the Ball family may finally get their wish.
