Last month, LaVar Ball debuted his son, Lonzo Ball, first shoe through his Big Baller Brand company that priced it at an astronomical $495 per pair.
During a recent interview with Complex, Lonzo finally revealed how long it took him to hammer out a design for the ZO2 sneakers.

In the same interview, Ball did concur that his shoe shares some similarity to various Kobe Bryant‘s signature shoe designs. This means that there was at least a foundation as to what he based the finished product on and not just something he came up with entirely on his own.
Ball also indicated that he will wear his own shoe in his rookie season rather than don another company such as Nike or Jordan. That came to be expected as it will be a prime opportunity to further market the product nationally while he's on the court.
That said, there is no certainty that the shoe sales will take off once he enters the NBA. If he struggles in any way early on, it would be hard to envision people buying the product. However, if he plays well from the get-go that could all change especially if he gets his wish of playing for the Los Angeles Lakers next season.
It may very well be a fine line for Ball, but only time will if it work out for his first pair of personally designated shoes.
