The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a fantastic start in Orlando. After a 103-101 win against city rivals the Los Angeles Clippers, the Lakers are now one win away from clinching the top seed in the very competitive Western Conference.

That's if Yahoo Sports' Keith Smith got his math right.

If this is correct, that means that LeBron James and the Lakers can snag the top spot in the West against the defending champions Toronto Raptors in their matchup on Saturday.

James and the rest of the Lakers were locked in against the Clippers in their close two-point win earlier tonight. The 35-year old was showing no signs of aging as he played 34 minutes and logged in 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists while starting center Anthony Davis led the team with a game-high 34 points. The supporting cast of the Lakers also came out huge with Kyle Kuzma leading the way with 16 bench points in 31 minutes of play.

The Lakers will be pretty determined to clinch that top spot early in their seeding games so they can take advantage of the rest of their schedule to work fully adapt to this new bubble environment and more importantly, to build on team chemistry in their updated Orlando roster. Newly acquired swingmen JR Smith and Dion Waiters were both given a chance to take the court for the first time as Lakers and look for these guys to get more playing time once as the seeding games continue for the Purple and Gold.

This season has been quite unexpected to say the least but all things considered, the Lakers seem to be on track to have a decent chance to snag their first NBA title since 2010.
