After recently agreeing to a buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Andre Drummond has emerged as one of the biggest names available on the market right now. Several teams have already been linked to the two-time All-Star, but as it is, the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers have been identified as the two frontrunners to sign the highly-coveted center.

The Knicks are not at the forefront of the chase for Andre Drummond, league sources say, with three defensive-minded centers on the roster and with no clear starting spot to pitch.

As he mentioned in his report, the New York Knicks have also been one of the other teams that have been linked to a swoop for Drummond. The Knicks were reportedly engaged in trade talks with the Cavs prior to the deadline, but obviously, nothing came to fruition.
After the Cavs failed to find a trade partner for Drummond prior to the March 25th deadline, both parties agreed to a buyout. This means that once he clears the waivers, the 27-year-old will be free to sign with any team he so chooses.
For their part, Boston could sure use a guy like Drummond now that former starting center Daniel Theis is out of the picture. They appear to have been eyeing Drummond for quite some time now, and the Celtics are hoping to pounce now that he is a free agent.
The same can be said for the Lakers, who are currently decimated by injuries. Even with a fully healthy squad, the defending champs would love an upgrade in the center position, with Marc Gasol now looking worse for wear. Montrezl Harrell does provide a ton of energy off the bench, but at 6-foot-7, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year will struggle against traditional bigs come playoffs time. Needless to say, Andre Drummond would instantly bolster the Lakers squad and provide a significant boost for their title hopes this season.
