The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly shown interest in Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie and Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Dennis Schroder, according to ESPN.

Frank Vogel and Co. have wanted to strengthen the point guard position for a while, as Rajon Rondo hasn't been that good of a backup to LeBron James.

The Thunder, however, were not interested in trading away Schroder without a substantial return. With that said, the conversation with the Lakers did not progress.

Fortunately for the Purple and Gold franchise, they still have an option in filling their need for a backup point guard. Darren Collison is reportedly considering a February return to the NBA, with the Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers emerging as his two preferred destinations.

With the Indiana Pacers last season, Collison averaged 11.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 76 games. He shot 46.7 percent from the field, 40.7 percent from beyond the arc and 83.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Collison, who played his college ball at UCLA, has career NBA averages of 12.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 708 games with the New Orleans Hornets, Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, Clippers and Sacramento Kings.

The Lakers have also been linked to Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose, although it sounds like the Pistons are going to keep the former MVP unless they get an offer for Rose that blows them away.
