The Los Angeles Lakers have had some of the greatest two-man combos of all time. Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe and Pau Gasol, and the list could go on. Now the Lakers are a few wins away from their 17th title with another great duo leading the way.

On the daily Locked On NBA Podcast, host Adam Mares (Locked On Nuggets) and Anthony Irwin (Locked On Lakers) ranked the best NBA duos over the last twenty years and concluded that LeBron James and Anthony Davis may already be the second-best pairing.

Adam Mares: LeBron and AD come in at number two on my list.

Anthony Irwin: Wow, already?!

Adam: I know… I know, there's already a lot of recency bias here. We have to see them close out this series. I could look like a fool if the Lakers blow this. LeBron, in some ways, looks like he's better than ever. In aggregate, I don't know when you put everything together but there's no question he's the smartest, most confident, most comfortable player he's ever been. Does he have the after boosters that he used? Probably not, although in small bursts it looks like he kind of does.

Anthony: Did you see that dunk?

Adam: Of course, I saw it. He still has a lot of his athleticism when need be. Anthony Davis appears to be approaching the best version of himself, he's in his prime but he is I don't know how much better than this he will get so he's already there, and they don't overlap. They actually fit so well that it made me go back and think about all of the bigs that LeBron has played with and he's played with some great ones but he hasn't played with like an athletic big like this. Chris Bosh was very skilled, Big Z (Zydrunas Ilgauskas), Kevin Love, he's had some bigs. However, watching Anthony Davis just out-athlete everybody on top of out-skilling everybody, it really does just make you realize that he hasn't really ever had that. It really does remind you of one of the greatest duos ever.
