The Orlando Magic suffered a huge blow last week when their starting center, Nikola Vucevic, went down with a hand injury. He underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair the second metacarpal in his left hand, and it reportedly went well, according to John Denton of Magic.com.

“Orlando Magic center Nikola Vucevic underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair the fractured second metacarpal in his left hand and the hope is that the 7-foot center can return in a couple of months.”

This is definitely good news for the Magic faithful, as the success of the surgery gives Nikola Vucevic a strong chance of returning as scheduled. They are now left to also hope that his healing and rehabilitation will all go as planned, which will make his return to the court by late February possible.

In Vucevic’s absence, Bismack Biyombo is expected to see an uptick in his minutes, while Marreese Speights may also receive more playing time and some run at the center spot, depending on matchups and if head coach Frank Vogel feels it will be to the Magic's advantage.
