For Desmond Bane, it should not be a question of whether Ja Morant should be an All-Star this season or not. Bane believes that what his Memphis Grizzlies teammate is showing this season is more than enough to warrant a discussion about Morant's case as the NBA's top point guard.
Via Tim Bontemps of ESPN:
“He's special,” said Bane, whose 29 points helped propel Memphis to a fifth straight win. “People debate whether or not he should be an All-Star, but I think we should be debating whether he's the best point guard in the league.
“I don't think it's any question he's an All-Star. The real conversation is, ‘Is he the best point guard in the league?'”

Bane made that statement following a sensational performance by Morant in the Grizzlies' 118-104 road win against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. Despite the presence of former NBA MVPs Kevin Durant and James Harden, it was Morant who shined the most in that game. Morant blasted the Nets for 36 points to go with six rebounds, and eight assists in 34 minutes of action. On the season, the former Murray State star is averaging 25.1 points on 49.2 percent shooting from the floor and 40.4 percent shooting from behind the arc.
At the same time, what Bane said is pretty bold, considering that Stephen Curry is still in the NBA as well as the likes of Damian Lillard, Trae Young, and Chris Paul.
In any case, Morant has the league on notice.
