Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is happy that the Utah Jazz banned the fans that heckled his family, but he admits he regrets telling his wife and other relatives to stay cool instead of letting them handle it themselves.

Morant said he is “frustrated” after learning what the hecklers told his family, per Nick Friedell of ESPN.

“I got kind of frustrated because I was telling them to stay cool but if I knew what they said, I would have just let my family handle business instead of trying to calm them down,” the Grizzlies star shared.

For those not in the know, in Game 2 of the Jazz-Grizzlies first-round playoffs series, the Jazz ejected three fans for what they described as “unruly behavior” and banned them indefinitely. They then apologized to Ja Morant's family and all those on the receiving end of such poor gesture.

According to reports and witnesses, some of the nasty words were thrown to Morant's wife. The father of the Grizzlies star also shared the said hecklers made some sexually explicit remarks to his wife, with one saying “I'll put a nickel in your back and watch you dance, boy,' in front of his own daughter.”

Morant's frustration is understandable. After all, while fans can cheer and try to throw visitors off their game, the players and their families (and anyone else really for that matter) should never be subjected to such disrespectful acts.

Given the recent string of poor behavior shown by fans, NBA arenas are expected to tighten up security even more and eject misbehaving fans. Hopefully, what happened to Morant and his family will be the last this 2021 Playoffs.
