Foul, or no foul? That is the question. In the closing seconds of Friday night's back-and-forth 103-102 Denver win at Memphis, Grizzlies second-year phenom Ja Morant shook loose for what would've been either a game-winning basket or game-winning free throws — a fine finish after erasing a 12-point, third-quarter deficit.

Instead, Nuggets center Nikola Jokic recovered in the lane, bodied Morant and denied the basket. And no foul was whistled.
Morant — alongside teammates in Dillon Brooks and De'Anthony Melton, as well as Grizzlies HC Taylor Jenkins — clamored for a pair of freebies, but no dice.
From Daily Memphian's Drew Hill, official Rodney Mott had a post-game statement in the pool report regarding his non-call:
Official Rodney Mott on the non-call @JaMorant's last drive: "On Morant’s drive to the basket, the defender, Jokic, jumps vertical and maintains a legal guarding position. There was no foul on the play."
The 2-minute report released tomorrow can say if it was wrong.

Melton, who was on the sideline for the final play, had his own thoughts — per Commercial Appeal's Evan Barnes:

De'Anthony Melton felt Jokic swiped down and he didn't think he hit all ball b/c Ja still got the shot up. But he said it didn't matter because he can't let it attack the team's pride.

Second-year Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke chimed in on the play during his interview with Fox Sports Southeast:

It's one of several tough calls this season Morant and the Grizzlies haven't seen fall their way, and at 17-17 in a contentious Western Conference, every win seems momentous — especially against league contenders.
Jenkins specifically noted he'd be interested to see what comes of tomorrow's NBA two-minute report, in which the league reviews all close calls inside the final moments of games.
